This article has all the information you need to successfully build a lead list with filters available in ContactOut's search portal.
Let's get started
We have two dashboards available : one for people search and the other for company search. By default you'll be redirected to people search, however you can navigate to company search using the "Companies" tab as shown below
Let's go through each of the filters on people search
- Name - If you are searching for a specific profile and already know the name, consider using this filter. It directly matches against the names of records in our DB. If you don't find the profile, head over to linkedIn and use our chrome extension instead.
- Job Title Filter - You have the ability to filter based on the job titles of your preferred contacts. This enables you to narrow down your search, focusing exclusively on the most relevant positions.
For job title field, we do a match with the experience section of the profile. You have options to include related titles, exclude some titles from your search and choose from current/past/current or past experiences using the dropdown on top right. - Seniority - The seniority filter offers a range of options such as founder, C Suite, vice president, head, owner, director, manager, and more. This determination is based on the individual's job title and accumulated experience.
- Skills - Skills filter matches against the skills listed in "skills" section of linkedIn. On the search portal, you can reveal the profile's skills by using "more" button dropdown as below.
- Years in current role - Using this filter, you can set the years only in current role which is the experience marked as "present" in profile. This feature enables you to filter by the expertise gained during the ongoing period of a user in his current company.
- Total years of experience - This filter helps you set the "total" years of experience gained by a profile. This is calculated by subtracting the start year of the first experience for the record in our database with the current year.
- Location - Using this filter, you can filter out records by their location. This is the location set by the users in the "location" section of linkedIn.
There's another filter called "miles radius" which only gets enabled once you enter the location in the location filter. You can only enter miles radius value for cities, and not for states or countries. You can seamlessly define the proximity for your search within a particular radius, optimizing the precision of your results. Suppose you choose a 25-mile radius after specifying a particular city; in that case, the results will be expanded to display profiles located within a 25-kilometer distance from the entered city. - Company - You can find profiles that belong a particular company using this filter. If you don't want to see results from a particular company, just enter that company name in exclude filter.
In this example, you won't see profiles currently working at apple or microsoft - Company Size - This will show records working in a company whose size is the one selected by you. This way you can filter profiles working in big corporations vs smaller companies/startups.
- Revenue - This will show records working in a company whose revenue is the one selected by you. This way you can filter profiles working in big corporations vs smaller companies/startups. We reccommend using either this filter or company size filter for best results.
- Industry - This filter allows you to filter by the industry of the "company" the prospects are working in. You can choose from the list of dropdown containing various industries.
- Exclude list - You can exclude the profiles you have already revealed contact information for, by first adding them to a list and selecting the list name from exclude list dropdown. This also serves an additional purpose. You can make your own DND list and select it using this filter everytime you make a search. This way, you won't see those profiles in search results.
This filter has listed all the "lists" saved in my "lists" tab as shown below. I can choose to exclude the profiles belonging to one or multiple lists from my search results. - Gender - Diversity hiring is big currently, hence we provide you with an option to filter out profiles based on their gender.
- Department - The department filter provides various filtering options, including engineering and technical, information technology, marketing, and others. Each department is further divided into subcategories. For example, within the engineering department, you'll find subcategories like artificial intelligence, bioengineering, chemical engineering, data science, cloud, support, and tech services. To filter these options, simply click on the dropdown menu and select or deselect the boxes accordingly.
This filter is best used alone.
You can further expand these categories to reveal and select sub-categories. Multi select is also allowed. - Keyword - Keyword filter matches the keyword entered by you against the experience, job title, skills, headline of the profile.
You can enter booleans in this field.
In this example, you'll see profiles having either of the two keywords since we're using OR.
In this example, you'll see profiles having both the keywords since we're using AND.
You can also build complex boolean queries using both AND, OR keywords and paranthesis. - School - You can choose from the list of schools available in the dropdown or type your own in the school field.
