How to use the Dialer

Features

  • Phone Numbers

    • Your account comes with one free phone number that you can use to make calls.

    • Additional phone numbers can be purchased under the credits tab on the dialer panel.

      • We support purchasing numbers from the following countries: 

        • United States

        • Canada

        • Puerto Rico

        • U.S. Virgin Islands

      • If you are looking to purchase numbers from any other country, please contact our support team (Purchasing numbers from other countries requires documentation to be submitted before being able to purchase the number).

      • Steps to purchase a phone number:

        • Navigate to the “Credits” tab on the Dialer panel.

        • Click on the “Purchase number” button.

        • Select the Country code and Area code.

        • Select the phone number you wish to purchase from the list of available numbers. A phone number will be shown to you based on your location preference. If you want to explore more phone numbers, click on the icon next to the number to see a list of available phone numbers.

        • After purchasing the phone number, you can view and manage it under the “Credits” tab on the dialer panel.

      • Steps to release a purchased number:

        • Navigate to the “Credits” tab on the Dialer panel.

        • Click the icon for “Release number” next to the number that you want to release.

        • Once you release the number, you will still have access to use the number till the end of your phone number billing cycle. During this period, you can choose to continue keeping the number by clicking on the icon for “Keep number” next to the phone number under the “Credits” tab on the Dialer panel.

  • Calling

    • You can make calls to any desired number by opening the Dialer panel from the main navigation in ContactOut.

      • You will need calling credits to make calls. Read the Pricing section for more details.

    • Enter the number you wish to call and click the “Call” icon.

    • The Dialer panel is collapsible to give you more screen space while you are in a call.

    • While in a call, you have options to mute your audio, put the call on hold or add notes to the specific call's log.

  • Call Logs

    • After a call is completed, navigate to the “Recent” tab to see logs for calls.

    • You can see a history of all calls made here. Calls are grouped together by date.

    • For each call made, you can see the status, duration, date, time and cost of the call in the logs.

    • You can also click on a specific log to add/edit/delete notes for the call. An indicator will be added to the call that has a note.


Pricing


  • You will need to purchase “Calling Credits” to be able to use the dialer functionality in ContactOut. Calling credits are a dollar amount that will be used to make calls or purchase phone numbers.

    • To purchase calling credits, you will need to open the Dialer panel and navigate to the “Credits” tab.

    • Click on the “Purchase credit” button and you will be redirected to a Stripe page to select the required amount of credits and make the payment.

    • Once the payment is complete, you will be redirected back to ContactOut.

    • You can see the amount of calling credits remaining under the “Credits” tab on the Dialer Panel.

    • Note: Calling credits do not renew automatically.

  • Charges for outbound calls starting at $0.004 per minute + SIP trunking charges (starting at $0.010 per minute).

  • Call recording is charged at $0.005 per minute.

  • Purchasing a phone number has a one–time purchase cost + a monthly subscription cost to keep the number. The charges start from $1.5 per month.

    • If you purchase a number, a minimum balance of calling credits worth $2 will be required in your ContactOut account.
